Nolan Septer studied photography at the Isaacson School for Communication, Arts & Media at Colorado Mountain College. He has exhibited his work in numerous group shows in Colorado, Minnesota, and New York. In 2020, he documented the Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd, with an image from the series displayed at the International Center of Photography in New York City as part of the ICP Concerned: Global Images for Global Crisis exhibition and accompanying book. Nolan has received multiple honorable mentions in the International Photography Awards.He had his first solo exhibition at Praxis Gallery in Minneapolis in 2023. He is now primarily making work on 35mm film. Nolan has deep ties to Colorado, where he has lived for nearly a decade. Having visited the state every year with his family as a child, Colorado’s beauty has significantly influenced his work and perspective.
